The Sage Investor Value Ranking The SI Value Ranking is our daily comprehensive ranking of the best wealth creating companies that are selling for the cheapest prices. The SI Value Ranking builds off the infamous "Magic Formula" ranking system that money manager Joel Greenblatt describes in his best-selling book, "The Little Book That Beats The Market". According to Mr. Greenblatt, the best stocks to invest in are ones that generate the highest return on capital and sell at a high earnings yield. Our ranking takes this methodology a step further. We first rank all the Canadian non-financial companies in our database by their ability to generate the highest Economic Profit spread (Return On Invested Capital less Cost of Capital). Next we rank the companies by the highest Economic Profit Yield (Economic Profit per Share/ Share Price). We simply add the two rankings for each company to derive the SI Ranking Score. We then rank the companies by this total score. The companies with the lowest score often provide the best value. We also include our Estimated Economic Valuation, which uses the Discounted Economic Profit cash flow valuation methodology to provide further context. The ranking only includes companies that generate positive Economic Profit (Unless you're into shorting stocks, who wants to invest in a company that destroys wealth?). The rankings are updated daily. |
